SWWT in Action

Collectively the Wildlife Trusts of the South West are one the region’s biggest, broadest and most active guardians of the regional environment.

The mission that our staff, volunteers, members, working partners and sponsors share is the rebuilding of regional biodiversity and the creation of a sustainable future for the region’s wildlife and people. To this end, the broad-ranging work of the eight individual trusts is complemented, supported, informed and consolidated by three regional flagship initiatives:

• Living Landscapes
  Rebuilding biodiversity through a series of landscape-scale conservation projects across the region.
• Protecting the marine environment
  Championing the case for marine protected areas.
• Rising to the climate change challenge
  Helping wildlife adapt to climate change impacts (see ‘Living Landscapes), and community based solutions to help reduce its causes and effects.
